Chris furr's Militaria
Великобритания
Добавлен 7 окт 2011
Welcome all, I'm Chris, I've always had an interest in second world war history and in particular American uniforms and equipment. I started my collection many years ago and has grown to a very healthy collection now with a mix of German, French, British and Japanese. Also some items from the first world war.

@@TazMonkey thanks its a really nice pair
I remember having a few of these as a kid, bought in junk shops.
@@oceanheadted nice! there still quite cheap also.
What of gas masks, do they have anti misting ability?
Just amazing all the kit made for war.
@flybobbie1449 yeah you would ues the cloth to clean the eye pieces and then rub the compound on to the eye pieces until a thin layer remains preventing fogging of the eye pieces.
Thanks for that info.
@@flybobbie1449 your welcome
I know next to nothing about these bits of kit so we'll explained as always Chris m8😊😊😊😊
@@steelhelmetstan7305 thanks Stan
Nice to see the variants
@historicmilitaria1944 thanks CJ
Coolest scabard..Me gots to have ..
@RobertBosley-wh9tl thanks. yeah it's very well made and it does look cool for a scabbard
I have it too
@@Xpterempirev.1fiv nice thanks for commenting
@@ChrisfurrsMilitaria1941 no problem
are you from the us? because in the uk you need a license to buy a replica of a gun from the year 1869 onwards
@Luke-ty6em i live in the UK. To buy a replica you have to be in a re-enactment group, but you don't need a license for a deactivated weapon just the deactivation certificate.
We have the real thing at the cosmosphere in Hutchinson Kansas, but no launcher. Also a real V-2.
@666toysoldier nice. thanks for your comment
Question of the day....do you use it?...cheers chris 😊😊
@steelhelmetstan7305 to be honest I haven't yet but considering whether to or not. It does need a little clean 😁
Nice survivor
thanks CJ
Its a cool piece of memorabilia and one that could even hold up to todays fahsions u can even reverse the hat so it is like a beanie and a slight protection form the back with the visor from rain or debree great hat simple but efficient it’s awesome that the hat is soft because it moulds into a helmet very comfertable too
@Pmv3tr thanks for commenting and i agree with you there 👍
I want to get ww2 wool pants
@bignapoleonproductions7388 have a look on eBay. There is always some for sale and at not too bad prices.
What did you do to cover the screw on the charging handle?
@@45thAidMan hello i uesed tamiya modelling putty and then painted it using tamiya black mixed with gun metal to the right colour match.
how much its cost
@user-fb7xw3xj9i it was about £ 45 because it is in relic condition. i bought the scabbard separately to complete it. This was many years ago so the prices have gone up
I got the Canadian issued
@@awesomemydog5569 nice
Nice bit of kit....I don't know too much about ww2 American kit but your channel is giving me good info , so perhaps I might stumble across some stuff I'd know what it is, cheers Chris 😊😊
@steelhelmetstan7305 thanks Stan this canteen is the hardest to find with the 1941 date ive been collecting U.S. for about 14 years now and I've only seen this one come up for sale.
Very nice
@historicmilitaria1944 thanks CJ
Wow! Where did you get it? Never seen one before!
@DuckErooo i got it off ebay and to be honest I haven't until this one.
Dude, that so neat! Just don’t drink from it, those things are made out of aluminum.
@@quacked7891 thanks. I won't 👍
Never knew there was a cover!
@adrianb7597 i got it off good old ebay
Nice to see the variants, very interesting.

Didnt know anything about these patches , until now...nice one chris m8😊😊😊
@@steelhelmetstan7305 thanks Stan yeah collecting US patches is a collection in itself
Mate, really excellent work there. did you unscrew and remove the metal parts when treating the wood? Also did you sandpaper the metal parts? Im going to do the same as yours and will post a video soon
@rm-pc3544 Thank you. yeah i removed the metal parts just to make it more easier and i also did use sandpaper to highlight the parts were it would get the most used.
Its one of those things i always mean to get but never seems to happen....good stuff chris m8😊
@@steelhelmetstan7305 thanks Stan my brother got me it when he was up in Scotland 😊
Really funny, they’ve got good gas masks but they don’t even know the names of them! Which in my opinion is really stupid. They’ll just be misinforming other people which I hate. They’re calling the Civilian Duty Respirator the Special Service Respirator???? What?! They’re making the names up as they go along! Cheers, TM.
@Tmilitaria thanks Tom yeah i was thinking that too. Yep i agree that its misinforming the public when they look at the displays and think oh thats what its called but the mask is not named correctly.
Late war model
@gamerhistorian7843 this one is mid war production the late war canteens are either made out of rubber or the stopper is rubber.
I managed to get one of these for Christmas one year. The bolt is finicky, but if I lift it up slightly then I can move it back. I want to convert it to shoot ball bearing projectiles one day. But I wanna try and make it more like a real M1, not that it will fire bullets, but so it has the openable butt plate and the adjustable sights.
@layne620 nice! i think it depends on what one you get with the build quality mine works fine luckily. Hope all goes well with the ball bearing conversion. Thanks for the comment
How many variations are there?...have you got them all?😊😊😊😊
@steelhelmetstan7305 There are 3 different types of badge. Marksman, Sharpshooter, and Expert. Yeah 😊 ive got them all
Ingenious design putting qualification clasps to the basic award
@historicmilitaria1944 yeah its a good idea thanks CJ
Thats so cool!
Thanks the Mk3 is quite hard to get hold off
👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
The blue corner goes in the top left, this patch is on it's side. 😣
Thanks for the correction 🤦♂️
Aha, yeh I've seen these for sale quite a lot😊😊😊😊well explained 😊😊😊
Thanks Stan yeah there nice looking badges
Thanks for posting! I was a rifleman 0311 (Purple Heart) Marine in Vietnam for one-year and put Halazone in canteens the entire time because we rarely had clean water and had to fill up from stream. I recently got an empty bottle [looks new] from eBay and it lists these: 1/16 grain Halazone with sodium borate and chloride. From Abbott Laboratories, Chicago. Did taking this stuff 100s of times harm my health? Hope someone can help me with this. A quick google search of sodium borate and chloride showed that they are harmful to health. I'll do more research in an attempt to see if this stuff is "truly" harmful when taken for one year at about the rate of two tabs per canteen. We drank two-three canteens each day; while in 100 degrees and walking tens of miles with gear.
Thanks for commenting appreciated telling a bit of you time in the forces i would of thought that they would be harmful to health if they were uesed not of the intended use like taking the tablets as they are and not putting them in the water.
I have serial no 33
Nice thanks for commenting.
A nice complete set chris....im thinking about getting a denix m1 garand for my birthday next month , if i do i will be picking your brains on how you aged yours so well😊😊😊😊
Thanks Stan. nice one! Pick away 😁 I'll be happy to help you out
Custom?
Yeah the kit that i used is the AMT ERTL Fast & Furious 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo 1:25 Scale Model Kit and the only parts that i used was the body shell, chassis, glass and the dashboard. The rest was scratch built and aftermarket parts. For the wheels they were off a AMT nascar kit but recently released some aftermarket crager black wheels that are correct that you can get now.
Looking good but could do with a polish
Thanks 😊
Very good, nice to have kit like this😊
Thanks Stan yeah will make a nice little display with the different items that go with it.
Is this... all you have? Not that there's anything wrong with having a small collection, it's just...
My main interest in collecting is not german! I collect U.S. militaria. I pick up german items every now and again.
Very nice,I just got in some frames with a 1 inch thick clearance which will take a german combat award and its certificate...cost a pound each...got quite a stash of useful frames for a rainy day!!!
Nice yeah picture frames are a good cheap way to display items. The thicker framed one's are ideal for this.
Very good, hobbycraft?...i will have to have a look.....good idea drilling a hole in it😊😊😊
Thanks Stan yeah they have some nice frame's ideal for armbands, patches, madels ☺️
Could you do a tutorial on how to screw back the rifle to make it lock in place please. Many thanks!
Thanks for commenting. I would do a tutorial but I've now filled in the screw holes to make the rifle look more realistic. All i did is slowly tighten up the screw a bit at a time until it holds in position. Hope this helps you.
@@ChrisfurrsMilitaria1941Thank you!
